National Recovery Month: You’re Not Alone
Wellness
Each September, National Recovery Month supports and promotes evidence-based recovery treatments and the compassionate service providers and support systems. Just as importantly, it recognizes and celebrates the strong and proud recovery community – proof that support and treatment can and does work. Millions of people are living healthy, fulfilling lives in recovery, and most don’t walk the path alone: They rely on the help of healthcare professionals, family, friends, and workplace resources.
Substance use disorder (SUD) is a treatable medical condition, not a personal failure or lack of willpower. Like many chronic health conditions, it can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or profession. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and early support can improve outcomes.
If you or someone you care about is struggling with a misuse of alcohol or drugs, or a combination, you don’t have to feel alone. As part of Transocean's commitment to employee wellbeing, your benefits include confidential resources that can help at every stage – from that critical first step, to maintaining long-term recovery.
Depending on your needs, support is available through:
- The Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Available to employees and eligible family members at no cost, the EAP offers confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even if you are not enrolled in a UHC medical plan. You and each family member can receive up to six counseling sessions per concern, along with referrals to additional services when needed. The EAP also provides support for stress, anxiety, family concerns, financial challenges, and many other life events that may accompany SUD. (Access Code: RIG).
- Behavioral health services: UHC medical plan enrollees can access in-person and virtual appointments with licensed behavioral health professionals to help address substance use concerns, co-occurring mental health conditions, or ongoing emotional wellbeing. You also have access to the digital behavioral health platform Talkspace and stress management platform Calm.
- Substance Use Disorder Helpline: All Transocean employees can access the SUD helpline – 1-855-780-5955 – and website. You’ll find specialized recovery advocates available to help you understand your options, connect with treatment resources, and support your recovery journey.
Let your first step be to shed the idea that you have to face substance abuse recovery challenges on your own. You don't. Whether you're concerned about your own health or worried about a loved one, reaching out for support starts the journey towards recovery, healing, and peace.
This National Recovery Month, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the resources available through your Transocean benefits. Maybe you don’t need them today, but tomorrow you may encounter someone who reaches for your hand.
Recovery happens every day. Today could be the day that makes a difference.
